Eiken
-
This very hard kind of wood is being used for hundreds of years for the making of furniture, is easy to get and has ideal aspects. It has a warm and solid appearance and doesn’t damage as fast as for example pinewood. It is relatively easy to work with and to color. Oak is originally almost white. Colors exist after a color treatment. Oak can be treated with a classic color like for example dark oak but it can also get a more modern appearance by oiling it in for example blank, white or olive green. Rustic Oak means that healthy grains and some other natural ‘flaws’ may occur in the wood. That makes a piece of furniture warm and homely.
Teak
-
Teak is a hard tropical kind of wood. Abnormalities in color, size and finish are the charm of the product, because they are mainly made by hand. Also wind cracks give this kind of wood its natural appearance. Teak is a ‘living’ material that reacts to external influences (like a dry environment, among others from a central heating installation). Because of this little hair cracks, cracks and color changes can occur. This is a natural process and has nothing to do with the manufacturing process, and cannot be prevented by a careful selection of the wood or by a special after treatment. It is a characteristic of teak and because of it each piece of furniture becomes a unique piece.
Acacia-Hardhout
-
Some of the characteristics are the very beautiful natural appearance, the deep grains, the intense color and the fast grow. Because it is a hardwood-kind you can count on a piece of furniture that will exist for many years, inside as well as outside. In many ways Acacia-wood can be compared to Teak. But Acacia is a lot less damaging for the environment because of the fast growth and because this can be found closer to home. Also Acacia doesn’t lose its color (tarnish) as fast as teak and it stays nicer in moist surroundings.
Grenen
-
Pinewood is a relatively soft kind of wood and because of this is more vulnerable than oak. The lively lines with grains and wind cracks are typical. - MDF
- MDF is a plate material of fine compressed wood fibers. Because of the fine wood fibers MDF is harder than for example chipboard that has a rougher fiber. Furniture of this material is lacquered covered. Crème, white, grey and black are used often, but also many other colors. An ideal material to treat.
Leersoorten
Leer
-
Leather is a tanned skin of animals, most of the time these are cow skins. Normally leather is treated with paint to give color to the skin and to apply a protective layer. With better qualities of leather certain crudeness are still visible. That makes it an extra beautiful natural product.
Leer PU - Pull Up Leer
-
Pull-up leather is very popular now. It may be sold under the name leather, without the addition PU or pull-up. But we add PU everywhere when it is pull-up. The base is leather. The product has a foil (lacquer) layer or finished with a wax ort foil layer. It is recognizable because of the ‘wrinkle effect’ that exists when the leather is pulled (pull): this then colors light.
Leder look-Kunstleer
-
Leather look/artificial leather looks like leather, but is another, and what concerns the characteristics, incomparable product. The base can exist of cotton with on top of that a layer of PVC or PU. In the second case often a print is added onto it.
Skai Leder
-
Skai LEather is a brand name that became a sort name. The name is used as a synonym for artificial leather.
Stofsoorten
Katoen
-
Cotton is the most common. It has a number of positive characteristics: the fiber is reasonably strong, takes moist in well and is a good heat conductor. Also cotton is extensively available. Disadvantages are that cotton is not well creasing convalescent and the influence of light is reasonably high. - Linen
- Linen is popular. It takes moist in well and has good heat conduction. Disadvantages are among others the crease vulnerability and the weakness of the fiber.
Wol
-
Wool is from all times and comes from the sheep as well as the goat; it is called then respectively merino and mohair wool. This last one is used as a polar cast of a velour fabric, the mohair velour, a durable application. Advantages are the big durability and it takes moist in well. A disadvantage of wool in a flat bond is, that this will ‘pill’ at a certain time.
Viscose
-
Viscose comes from wood of pine trees. It only has a slight elasticity and moist intake, but a strong shine and because of that it is often used as an accent thread in a fabric.
Kunstvezels
-
